A Prayer for Thanksgiving

God our Father,

Maker of all that is seen and unseen,
We thank you today for all of your many gifts to us:
The great and the small;
Noticed and unnoticed;
Family and friend;
Food and drink;
Trial and triumph.

God of past, present and future:
we thank you for the gifts previous;
we thank you for the gifts here present;
and we thank you for the gifts yet to come.

from G.k. Chesterton: "You say grace before meals. All right. But I say grace before the concert and the opera, and grace before the play and pantomime, and grace before I open a book, and grace before sketching, painting, swimming, fencing, boxing, walking, playing, dancing and grace before I dip the pen in the ink."

Have a peaceful Thanksgiving.
