Father Cuthbert Says

Here I need not pause to argue with the contention of some that the Franciscan life, as designed by St. Francis, had no place for learning or acquired knowledge.  This only need be said here, that if the life of poverty had no benediction for the activity of the mind and the beauty of thought, it were no true gospel life.  Any creed which ills thought, or atrophies the mind, is self-condemned.
