Fraternity in Action

Fraternity is a topic that often makes friars red in the face.  In many ways, fraternity has become a buzz word of sorts for use in all types of ideological-become-personal battles amongst the friars, I am sad to say.

And yet, there are times when the fraternal spirit of the Capuchins shines so brightly as to almost burn away the carbonized malaise which sometimes overtakes our life.

By assisting at a funeral mass today with the pastor/administrator of the parish across the street, receiving a visit from one of the brothers from across the street and an extended conversation via gChat with a novitiate classmate, I sit here sitting tea and reflecting on just how graciously and freely the Lord will bless a friar if he allows himself to be so blessed.

What a coincidence! I was just sipping a Dr. Pepper and remembering how I wanted to scream every time Rich left his clothes on the fence after running.

Hope post-novitiate life is treating you well.

La paz.

How could anyone forget that?
