Starry-Eyed on the Floor

I love old priests who tell stories.

The normal young Jesuit who prays mass for the Poor Clare community in JP is making his yearly retreat this week, so a substitute (and very old) Jesuit prayed the mass instead.

After many, many years, he still prayed with an earnestness and preached with a passion often missing from priest half his age.  I think what gets me most excited in situations such as these is that this particular priest put his entire heart, soul -- his self -- into the praying of the mass.  It wasn't about him, yet he and the prayer of the Eucharist became one.

I'm not sure if this a correct theological explication, but if you know what I mean, you're nodding your head right now.
