How does one pray if you have never been taught?

Anon,

That is certainly a loaded question.

Where ever to begin...

If this is a question specific to yourself, I might recommend Thomas Green's Opening to Prayer as a good primer. I might start with the simple prayers of rote repetition, the Our Father, Hail Mary, allowing a rhythmic pattern to form in my heart. Failing that, I'd start with any one of the Gospels and allow a particular passage which strikes my heart to wash over me. "Ruminate" on it, the Benedictines would suggest.

How's that for a start?
