The Ugly and the Ugly

Yesterday's marathon treated me badly.  I knew that I was under prepared and I felt each and every single extra cookie that I have eaten the past few months.  The good news, however, is that I completed the marathon and learned some valuable lessons.  I learned about the pain of a lack of preparation.  I also learned that even in my poor training, I still maintained enough fitness to carry me through 18 miles of running.  And perhaps the best lesson I learned is that I have it in my ability to jog, run, limp, walk and hobble through eight miles of rolling Cape Cod hills if necessary.

Here's the photo proof:

At a pretty good pace, before things totally fell apart.

Agony on a face that only a mother could love.
