And after the fire, a sound of sheer silence (1 Kings 19:12b)

This Friday, I'll be spending some time with the kindergarten and first grades in South Boston.  The teachers have asked me to talk to the kids about listening.

Of course, I'll teach them about Elijah finding God in the silence.

You may think it's over their head, but I don't.

Young people, I believe, know the value of silence, especially because they get so little of it.

And thus, the sheer silence of God's presence.
